We teamed up with BBC Bitesize to create this ten episode series to teach KS1 kids about music. The brief immediately captured our imagination as it was set to feature a host of musical legends like Bach, Beethoven, Nina Simone and Elvis (ah huh huh) with an original song and recordings from the BBC Philharmonic orchestra.
CREATING CHARACTERS
We gave the band members strong architypal characters: the leader, the smarty pants, the scaredy cat, the loud one and the bored one. With every script they grew into characters we still love today.
DESIGNING THE GREATS
Designing all the musical heavy hitters was a joy and writing over the top outlandish characters for them was great fun too. We wonder what they would make of them...
HIGH OCTANE FUN
We wanted these educational videos to have TV quality animation with the pacing and laughs per minute that kids come to expect. We like to set our bar nice and high!
WORLD CLASS
Musicians from the BBC Philharmonic orchestra performed all the music for the episodes and we were on hand to direct from a character perspective. This mostly involved saying "louder!" and "sillier!"
